This weekend it was finally summer in Door County. With the temperature’s in the 80’s, many people were enjoying everything Sturgeon Bay and Door County have to offer. I was one of those people! I had the weekend off and my in law’s were up for a visit.
While they were here, they stayed at Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort. On Saturday morning we went to the Farmer’s Market in downtown Sturgeon Bay. Here they are standing by one of the vendors.
The Sturgeon Bay Farmers Market is unique because you will meet the people producing the food. Not only will you find your local Sturgeon Bay cherries but in addition you will locate your herbs, vegetables, fruit and discover the taste of Sturgeon Bay! The Farmer’s Market in Market Square, in downtown Sturgeon Bay is on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Whenever my in laws are here, we have to go to their favorite restaurant for breakfast. That would be the Inn at
Cedar Crossing in Sturgeon Bay. Here I am with Steve Hellmann. Steve and his wife Kelly own the Inn at Cedar Crossing. The have a great restaurant and if you are there for breakfast don’t forget to try one of their Raspberry Morning Buns. They are delicious!

On Monday, June 15, I was able to go to the dress rehersal of the Peninsula Players first show of the season. The theatre is nestled in a cedar forest overlooking the waters of Green Bay where you can go and walk along the shore before the play starts and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
The show we saw was “The Lady with All the Answers”. It’s a one woman show that is drawn from the life and letters
of Ann Landers .
No topic was taboo for Ann Landers, the “Mistress of Manners.” If one needed blunt advice, from wandering spouses to nude housekeeping or lovelorn teens to dispensing the toilet paper correctly, they wrote to Ann who answered numerous letters in a syndicated newspaper column. But to whom can Ann turn when life hands her lemons? This delightful one-woman comedy is based on Ann’s life, who in reality was Esther “Eppie” Pauline Friedman Lederer. Peek into her relationship with her husband and twin sister, better known as Dear Abby.
The show runs from June 16 – July 5, 2009. It’s a beautiful theatre and a great play!

Ephraim explodes with summer excitement as its annual Fyr Bal Festival re-creates traditions of
early Norwegians celebrating Midsummer’s Eve. Artists, musical entertainment, family activities and a fish boil along the picturesque shoreline of Eagle Harbor welcome the arrival of summer. Evening bonfires and fireworks complete a perfect day.

Held along the beautiful waterfront in Sturgeon Bay, the Fine Art Fair brings together regional artists for a juried multi-media art show. Complete with entertainment, children activities, food, beverages and plenty of activities – this event promises to bring a fun weekend of art for the whole family!
Participating artists of the past have recognized our fair as being “artist friendly” with 15’x15’ booth space, easy access for set up and take down, free morning rolls and coffee, an informative registration packet and same day signage throughout Sturgeon Bay. In addition, we will be providing “booth sitters” for those artists needing a break. The date for the art fair is also carefully chosen to coincide with the month-long Door County Festival of Blossoms and what has become one of Door County’s most popular 3 days – the Memorial Day weekend. These are just a few of the ways we strive to make our fair a pleasant and successful experience for all! We believe this event to be an opportunity not only to participate in a quality art fair but also a chance for you to take in the beauty of our county as well.
Please consider this show as the “kickoff” to your season of art fair participation and submit your slides for jury in Sturgeon Bay’s fine ART fair ‘09.
