Start you New Year in a beautiful suite at Westwood Shores. When you arrive, you will receive two gift certificates. One is good for a winery tour at Door Peninsula Winery where you will receive one bottle of wine and two wine glasses, a basket with gourmet cheese and crackers and a gift certificate for $50 gift certificate from the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Bureau good at many shops and restaurants in town. This package requires a three night minimum.

What a Beautiful Weekend!

This weekend it was finally summer in Door County. With the temperature’s in the 80’s, many people were enjoying everything Sturgeon Bay and Door County have to offer. I was one of those people! I had the weekend off and my in law’s were up for a visit.

While they were here, they stayed at Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort. On Saturday morning we went to the Farmer’s Market in downtown Sturgeon Bay. Here they are standing by one of the vendors.

The Sturgeon Bay Farmers Market is unique because you will meet the people producing the food. Not only will you find your local Sturgeon Bay cherries but in addition you will locate your herbs, vegetables, fruit and discover the taste of Sturgeon Bay! The Farmer’s Market in Market Square, in downtown Sturgeon Bay is on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Whenever my in laws are here, we have to go to their favorite restaurant for breakfast. That would be the Inn at Cedar Crossing in Sturgeon Bay. Here I am with Steve Hellmann. Steve and his wife Kelly own the Inn at Cedar Crossing. The have a great restaurant and if you are there for breakfast don’t forget to try one of their Raspberry Morning Buns. They are delicious!

We need to go out more

Living and working in Door County doesn’t always give us the time to try all the different restaurants around that we would like to. Our son just started working up at Shipwrecked Restaurant in Brewery in Egg Harbor. On Saturday night, my husband and I thought we would go up and surprise him while he was working. I have to admit, I haven’t been there in probably 15 years but I will be going again real soon, and not just because our son works there. The food was excellent. I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was so tender and good. I added the barbaque sauce they have on the table and made it perfect! We stopped at the bar afterwards to have a drink and then headed home. We cannot wait to go again to try something else! Next time you stay at Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort, be sure to get directions to Shipwrecked!

Chef Andy’s Nautical Inn’s Rebirth!

I recently had dinner at the Nautical Inn in Sturgeon Bay and it was fantastic! My husband and I had Prime Rib and it could melt in our mouth! Nautical Inn is Door County’s oldest tavern (since 1886). They reopened on March 10, 2009. When they renovated the restaurant and bar they paid careful attention to retaining the Nautical’s classic decor. From the 1930’s bar murals to the stone fireplace in the dining room, everything’s cleaned up, brightened up, updated as needed and ready for your approval. The Nautical Inn is in Downtown Sturgeon Bay and close to Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort. We have menu’s and directions just ask at the front desk when you check in!
